About Us

Our Story

Whirlwinds Basketball Club is one of the 7 member clubs of Townsville Basketball and has a strong tradition of success at both junior and senior levels. The club is based at the Townsville Basketball at Annandale.​

The goals of the club are to:

• achieve on-court success at all levels

• provide a pathway beyond regional level for elite players, coaches and administrators

• create an environment which caters to the needs of players of all ages and abilities,

• be a leader in the our drive and commitment to the club and our players

• establish a club structure which ensures long-term financial security.

The club participates in the 

 junior program and fields teams in the junior competition from Under 8s to Under 18's youth league. We focus on skill development and providing pathways for all players to achieve the highest level of success possible.Our division 1 men’s and women’s team have players who are currently competing in the National Basketball League North Competition (NBL1), and have a history of success. Whirlwinds is proud of the players who represent us at a higher level at State teams, National Performance Players (NPP), National Players and those who go on to do great things in the sport.

Our seniors team participates in Under 23 / various Mens / Womens levels to Championship Division
